14. SWISS CHOIR CONDUCTOR MEETING 29th may 2025
CHorama, the interest group of the Swiss choir association invites you to the annual further education for current and studying choir conductors. The workshops are public and are held at Musik-Akademie Basel during the Festival.
The courses are carried out in cooperation with Musik-Akademie Basel.
Participation in a workshop will be acknologed as further eduction in the federal J+M programme.
The following workshops are open to all interested parties, including choir singers and other singing enthusiasts

10.30 – 12.00 «POP-CHOR» with Vera Zweiniger / Germany
13.00 – 14.30 «INSTANT MUSIC» with Anders Edenroth / Sweden
15.00 – 16.30 «ECHO VOM EIERSTOCK» with Simone Felber / Switzerland
All other workshops are aimed at choir conductors, music students and listeners.

«ALL EARS» with Anders Edenroth / Sweden
Choir singing means listening. Anders, former singer with The Real Group, has been intensively involved with polyphonic singing for many years. In his workshop you will sing a single melody and encounter all the central questions of choral singing, such as personal responsibility, intonation and rhythm.

«READING SESSION» with Susanna Lindmark / Swedish-Lapland
Susanna’s ‘Song of Hope’ has conquered the world. Her music touches people, is easily accessible and yet not simplistic. Her 2-3 part works are just as suitable for church services as they are for secular concert programmes. In this reading session you will find the future favourite pieces for your choir.

«POP-CHOR» with Vera Zweiniger / Germany
Pop choir – how does it work? Vera knows exactly. She is a choir director and has a wealth of experience in pop and classical music. She will show you what makes a pop choir and what a good arrangement is, she will make you groove and try out different popular singing sounds with you.

«SPEEDY-TEACHING» with Tom Johnson / Belgium
Tom is an enthusiastic leader of open singing events throughout Europe. He teaches you how to rehearse choral scores efficiently. In five miniatures for equal voices and mixed choir, he presents various didactic possibilities that lead to success quickly and enjoyably. A ‘must’ for every choir director.

«INSTANT MUSIC» with Anders Edenroth / Sweden
«Just singing» is the motto of this workshop. Anders is not only a former singer with The Real Group, but also a composer. He writes loops that enable you to sing ad hoc polyphonically, he trains your ear and strengthens your joy of singing. No previous knowledge is necessary.

«GESANGSFESTE VON APPENZELL BIS TALLINN» with Grégoire May / Switzerland
Catchy festive literature that is suitable for all choirs and creates a festive atmosphere is in demand in every choir. Grégoire explains how the song festival spread from Appenzell across Europe to the Baltic States and sings with you through 200 years of literary history on the subject. A treat for everyone.

«KLINGENDE KINDER» with Ange Tangermann / Switzerland
Voice training in a children’s choir makes sense and awakens the senses! Ange, who knows all the ins and outs of working in a children’s choir, will try out different ways with you to make children’s voices sound in different colours. The focus is on intonation and targeted development and playing with tone colours and registers.

«ECHO VOM EIERSTOCK» with Simone Felber / Switzerland
‘Echo vom Eierstock’ is the name of the first and most famous feminist yodelling choir from Central Switzerland. Its director Simone, winner of the Swiss Music Prize 2024, sings traditional yodelling songs (women’s choir literature) with all those who enjoy singing, without ‘real men’ and ‘dear Müetis’ in the lyrics. Laughter is allowed.

«LA VOIE DE LA VOIX» with Robin de Haas / Switzerland
A beautiful choral sound is based on knowledge of breathing and the voice. Robin has developed a revolutionary method that enables choral singers to realise their full vocal potential. In this workshop, he will help you rediscover your voice and show you ways to improve the quality of your choral sound.
