Concerti ATELIER

The EYCF ATELIER programme for Swiss choirs has complemented the EYCF FESTIVAL since 2023. The idea for this programme was born when the 12th Youth Choir Festival was held as a national event without an audience due to the pandemic and it became impressively clear how enriching it can be for several choirs to work together with an outstanding workshop leader. The aim of the EYCF ATELIER programme is to offer all Swiss children’s and youth choirs the opportunity to get a taste of the international festival atmosphere, to further develop their musical skills and to foster encounters and singing together. The results of their joint work will be presented to the audience in two entertaining studio concerts on Saturday evening.

‘Hello, I’m called Nature, could I talk to you?’ ‘Okay, what would you like to say? My name is human, by the way’. The conversation begins with this dialogue, in which nature discusses what it expects from humans. The piece ‘Lionteeth’ for choir and large orchestra is stylistically located between pop, jazz and classical music. It was written by Anders Edenroth, composer and former singer of the world-famous Swedish vocal pop quintet ‘The Real Group’ in 2023. Around 300 young people from German- and French-speaking Switzerland spent months preparing it and put it together in three days under the direction of Raphael Immoos. They will perform it for the first time in Switzerland at this concert, along with other works on the theme of nature.

She uses this term to describe the fact that her choreographies always support the singing. In Tom Johnson from Belgium, she has found a partner who perfectly complements her qualities in the musical field. He is a gifted animator and director of open singing events and has extensive experience as a children’s choir director himself.everything is rhythm and choreography is more than just movement. Ambitious Swiss choirs have attended three-day workshops on the subjects of ‘choreography’ and ‘body percussion’. Their powerful performances fascinate and electrify.
